Headliners (UK) wins North East Youth's Projects with Pride Partnership of the Year Award

Headliners (UK)'s North East NCS team were delighted to be recognised by North East Youth for their innovative partnership project working with Groundwork South and the North Tyneside Route2Work Jarrow Hall College to deliver a bespoke Autumn 2020 National Citizen Service programme. The partnership won the Partnership of the Year 2020 Award at North East's Youth's Projects with Pride Awards announced on February 24th 2020.

The partnership programme enabled young people with Special Educational Needs to take part in the Headliners (UK) NCS programme and undertake team building activities and social action project activities designed to build confidence and belief in themselves as well as supporting their local communities at this much needed time.

Rachel Kitson, Designated Safeguarding Lead Officer. Operations Manager - Learning, Employment and Skills. Groundwork South and North Tyneside reflected on the impact that the Headliners (UK) NCS programe had on the young people:

"I was blown away by the presentations that the groups did and how much work they had put into them. There were many learners who when they started on programme with us wouldn't have stood up, spoken and taken questions from the 'Dragons' - to see and hear them do that last week was fantastic. I could see how much their confidence, communication and social skills had developed whilst taking part in the programme.

My son took part in the NCS programme at Harton Comprehensive last year which was great, however I've been even more impressed by the bespoke programme that your team at Headliners have developed and delivered for our SEND learners.

It has been really challenging to find engagement and enrichment activities for our SEND learners this academic year as COVID-19 has had such a huge impact on other partners and service providers. The team at Headliners have worked so hard to engage with us and ensure that the bespoke programme has been delivered to an incredibly high standard and at the same time being COVID safe and secure.  I hope we can continue to work with the team moving forward and into next academic year. Please pass this on to the rest of the team - they're all amazing!!"

Ali Talbot, Chief Executive of Headliners (UK) said:

"Headliners (UK) is delighted to have been nominated and to have won this award for our Autumn NCS programme. Congratulation to all the other nominees in this Partnership of the Year category. Our partnership with Groundwork South and the North Tyneside Route2Work College worked hard to reach young people who may not have had the opportunity to experience the joy of NCS. The partnership enabled the young people to stretch themselves  and enjoy the feeling of giving back to their community through their brilliant social action projects. We look forward to seeing how this partnership can grow for the future".
