To celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, Headliners (UK) is delighted to be delivering our London Green Champions project which has received funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest funder of community activity in the UK

Headliners (UK) has been awarded £50,000 of National Lottery funding from the National Lottery Community Fund to help bring our community together to celebrate Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee and to help support our community-led activity in Hackney, Islington, Tower Hamlets and Lewisham to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee. This funding has been made possible thanks to players of The National Lottery and we are proud that we are one of 92 projects across the country to receive funding.

Across the UK throughout 2022, celebrations will be held in honour of Her Majesty The Queen’s 70th year on the throne. To mark this momentous occasion, Headliners (UK) are bringing young people together within a new London's Young Platinum Green Champions project to support young people to access green spaces and nature.

The project will reach at least 124 young people aged 11-25 years from deprived communities in London to celebrate their access to green spaces through multi-media programmes, workshops and summer action volunteering opportunities. We will also seek to connect with the Royal Parks to enable young people to undertake their summer social action in the Royal Parks where possible to celebrate Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee and improve young people’s access to green spaces.

The young people from the most deprived areas in Hackney, Islington, Tower Hamlets and Lewisham currently experience lack of access to green spaces and this project seeks to change that. A jubilee celebration launch event would enable the young people to explore how the green spaces around them have changed over the 70 years of Her Majesty’s reign. They will create new media stories and films to celebrate the green spaces and we will amplify their voices with stories, films and resources to highlight the benefits of green spaces and nature to young people.

We are working to enable young people to undertake summer social action in their local communities to celebrate Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee and improve young people’s access to green spaces. Our project links to the Platinum Jubilee theme of Our Shared Natural World - Deepening our care and action locally for the natural world.

If as a young person you would like to take part in this project, please contact our Project Officer, Chloe Ly on [email protected]

Thank you to the National Lottery Community Fund and the players of the National Lottery for supporting this unique project.
