Stories Little Opportunities: Conservation Careers The conservation sector has had a history of young people struggling to find a way in. On top of this, the coronavirus pandemic has had a huge impact on young people looking for work. Keeping It Wild trainee Max reports on the issues finding work, how coronavirus has impacted this and what needs to be done for young people to succeed in the sector. Coronavirus has made young people embrace nature more but opportunity-wise, it still isn’t there. I want to show how coronavirus has affected young Londoners, and how this has affected their relationship with nature. Coronavirus prevents me from getting practical experience, prevents opportunities from occurring due to uncertainty, and makes it more difficult to make connections. This piece was created by Max Lawson on the Keeping It Wild Traineeship with London Wildlife Trust. The traineeship is one strand of the Keeping It Wild Project. This project is funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and this particular activity strand was supported by Tallow Chandlers.
