Stories Let's Talk about Fake Friends As exploitation involves a power imbalance, people often forget that this can happen within friendship groups. In their podcast "Let's Talk about Fake Friends", the young people at New City College discuss peer-on-peer exploitation and what to do if you think you are trapped in a fake friendship. The young people outline how peer-on-peer exploitation can develop into financial exploitation as well as harassment. It can be difficult to break free from this exploitation, the victim may fear being socially isolated if they don't do what the perpetrator tells them to do. However, it is important to remember that there is a whole network of people you can turn to. This project was produced as a collaboration between New City College Tower Hamlets and Headliners (UK) by Fourzia, Fatemeh, Tamara, and Elizabeth. Thank you to the Tower Hamlets Prevent Team for making these sessions possible.
