Is it All Fake? As part of our Breaking Through the Headlines project, the young people at Spotlight investigated the prevalence of mis and disinformation online. The group explored how fake news is spread around online, particularly through social media and how others use disinformation to target vulnerable people and manipulate them. In regards to fake news, Zayd outlined: “Fake news is a disease, the more it is uploaded the more people get persuaded that is it true”. Jed continued, “Someone once told me that everything on the internet is true, but after doing this programme, I can see they were not correct”. This project was produced as a collaboration between Spotlight and Headliners (UK) by Jed, Zayd and Adrika. Thank you to the Tower Hamlets Prevent Team for making these sessions possible.
