"The Project allowed for our youth group to talk openly about issues that affected them. The group felt comfortable and at ease with the course facilitators and for this reason they were able to talk willingly about sensitive issues in a safe and comfortable atmosphere. The project also allowed for the group to gain practical and transferable media skills and knowledge. Also, having something to work towards (Short film) gave the group a sense of achievement, knowing that their views and experiences were going to be made into a film helped to keep them focused and motivated. Upon seeing the finished piece the group then had an enormous sense of accomplishment and pride."
"Headliners are the only company I want to work with really because they are so fantastic with our young people and I recommend them to any other professionals I work with…
They are person centred; young people are at the centre of everything they do. They’re extremely good listeners and they don’t direct the work – they come with a plan: first and foremost they’re building a relationship with the young people to get the best out of them; building their confidence - and then teaching them the skills to deliver journalism."
"It was really enlightening to see how she (the project journalist) really engaged with the young people straight away; they felt immediately able to share…. I think that’s a massive thing. It was the type of thing we would have loved to have done but didn’t have the skills or wouldn’t have known where to start, but by working in partnership we were able to be there and support the young people to explore the issues but also have that guidance from Headliners about how to make it happen…."
