RJ's Leaving Day

Children's Law Centre (CLC) tread the boards at the Grand Opera House, Belfast to highlight inequality and promote the inclusion of young people's views at Stormont.

RJ's Leaving Day is a play written and produced by Children's Law Centre in partnership with Tinderbox Theatre Company.

The project aims to give young people professional training and support in theatre writing and performance and to provide a public platform for their thoughts and creativity. The plot specifically explores young people’s rights and their role in Northern Ireland’s society, promoting better community relations, and a culture of equality and rights.

The play has been entirely scripted by the young people involved in the project and they have also worked closely with the design team in the creation of the set and costumes. Headliners reporters Naomi Drury,17, and Lydia Roets, 16, met up with cast members to find out how their opening night went down at the Grand Opera House in Belfast.
