Young people in Headliners have written letters to US president Barack Obama calling for change.
The subjects they wrote about included the environment, child labour and world hunger.
Headliners member Aoife Kerr explained more about the project: “We did this so he could see the problems in the world that need more attention because they are very big now”.
Tarah Graham was another participant in the project and added: “I wrote about child labour and world hunger.
“I wrote this because I thought they were related since the children might have to work because their families might get hungry and die of starvation or because their families might already be working or they are ill.”
After the letters were printed off and checked they were ready for the mail bag. Members posed with the letters in Belfast before sending it on its way to Washington.
Once the process was finished, Cliodhna Carlisle spoke about the need for the President to act quickly on the issues.
She said: “When Obama gets the letters I hope he reads them and really understands that the problems in the world need to be solved before it is too late”.
