A 12-year-old girl has danced her way into a top Russian ice skating troupe. Dempsey Andrews from Belfast is appearing in an exciting new show at the Waterfront Hall. Headliners reporters Tarah Graham and Annabel Kraly caught up with Dempsey to find out more about this ice skating sensation. Dempsey revealed how she had started skating at a very young age.
She said: “I started when I was five, one day I just asked my dad if he could take me skating and I just loved it that I just kept on going. “I started taking group lessons and my coach saw potential in me and asked me to take private lessons and I just continued”.

Dempsey also revealed she has worked with some of the world’s top skaters. She said: “British champion Jenna McCorkell. I am skating with her at the moment because I go over to Coventry once a month to train with Uri Brekhov, my international coach and I skate with her when I am over there.
Dempsey also revealed her desire to compete at the highest level and plans to skate to be an Olympian. She said: “Yes, it is every skaters dream to skate in the Olympics, but it is a hard long road.
“I just have to keep putting in the hard work and dedication, but yes, I want to make it there. I’m not going to stop until I make it to the top.”
