Asperger’s And Me is a short documentary about a teenager’s search to find more support and information for young people with autism.
JJ McQuade was inspired to make the film to get a better understanding of the condition which he and his family have fought hard to manage.
In the documentary, the 19 year old from Belfast talks about his early experiences and challenging behaviour before he was diagnosed with the condition just two years ago.
The film traces JJ’s life over 12 months and shows him discovering what support is out there for people like him.
In Asperger’s And Me, JJ shares his feelings and concerns about his past and present as well as his hopes for the future.
The film shows him finding inspiration through his family and those who also live with the condition.
The film is both a record of JJ’s journey and a resource to be used for young people and others who live with Asperger’s syndrome and Autism.
