Strong Words Sofly Spoken

Ruth Smyth, 19, makes a film using quotes that focus on prejudice.

"Making a 30-second movie about prejudice gave me the opportunity to experiment and be creative. I thought that the best way for me, was not to focus on one form of prejudice, but to talk about prejudice in general. Instead of limiting myself to telling one story, using different quotes highlights several ways of viewing prejudice. I believe words are sometimes more powerful than pictures and sound, therefore, I looked for quotes which were strong enough to allow the viewer to make their own judgements.

By the way, the great tune that you can hear in the film was made by my brother."
