"My experience of coming to the UK"

Recent immigrant Emmanuel Esteve arrived in the UK from Togo unable to speak any English. Three months later, he tells Headliners about his experience.

When Emmanuel Esteve came to the UK from Togo in September 2007 he could speak no English. He found it difficult to settle into a school in a country with a very different outlook to his own.

Now, three months later, he tells Headliners some of the experiences he had and differences he has noticed. He talks about the early days and his aspirations.

Welcome to the UK . .
If you steal a £1000 from a Bank you will end up in jail. If they steal a Billion pounds from everyone in the UK, they get a Bonus AND we get to bail em out with our childrens futures. What time is the next flight to Tonga

I love hearing your insight of life in the UK. It reminded me of what I felt like. It has some very good things and yes we need people to smile some more.

It might interest your readers to know that for 25 years a British school have been functioning in Lomé, the capital of Togo, in West Africa. GCSEs were introduced at the same time as in England and that we long ago ditched A'levels, the straightjacket of British education, in favour of the IB Diploma.
