Hackney's Education and Image
Odaka, 13, and from Hackney, thinks the borough gets an unfair rap - here's why
Most people from other parts of England presume that Hackney is a bad place for education and such, but I am going to prove them wrong!
Hackney is filled with intelligent individuals but Hackney’s bad reputation ruins their chance to shine! Hackney’s primary schools have done extraordinarily well with SATs results; so have Hackney’s secondary schools in their KS3 SATs and GCSEs.
I go to a school in Potters Bar (north of London) and when people from my school hear I’m from Hackney they instantly think that I go round upon the roadside with a “shank” (which means knife in case you didn’t know), wear my trousers low and mention the word “blud” in every sentence - which isn’t true.
They also think that Hackney’s education isn’t very good, but I disagree with that. They don’t know what it’s like to live in Hackney and how things are there; they just believe what they hear on TV and all the things printed in the newspapers. Hackney needs to regain a good image in order to change peoples’ perceptions because Hackney is not as bad as it may seem!
