Headliners Belfast have been asked to film a behind-the-scenes documentary for short movie Exit: Alley. The plot follows a man as he gets lost in the city’s labyrinth-like alleys after leaving his home.
Although the story appears to be straightforward, producer Larry Cowan says there is a deeper meaning and this will become apparent when audiences get to watch it. The director Robin Smyth also remained tight-lipped about the movie and said the film should answer any questions.
When asked to describe the plot Robin said: “It is not something I can put into words.” He added that most people will just have to watch it to find out. Robin said he first came up with the idea about a year ago and has been shocked that very little of this time was actually spent filming. He revealed most of the work went into the preparation work and editing.
Three of our members Ben Richie, Dan McCrisken and Joseph Pelan were approached by the two producers Larry Cowan and Thomas Moreland who also plays the main role in the movie. In their film they got to be camera and sound operators as well as getting the chance to edit the piece.
Most of this and the original movie were filmed in the Holy Lands in Belfast’s university area. Dan said: “The idea really appealed to me and it was a chance to learn new things and have a bit of fun as well. It is something I would definitely do again.”
