East London Playday

Reporters from Headliners went to the East London Playday to find out what young people thought of play and the theme of the day 'Our Streets Too'

Headliners reporters went to the East London Playday in Victoria Park to find out why play was important for young people.

As well as taking part in some of the activities on offer, the reporters spoke to children about the theme of this year's Playday, 'Our Streets Too'. They wanted to know whether young people played in the streets near their houses, and if not, why not.

The event started off with a procession from Hackney Town Hall, which included closing off streets so that young people could safely play in them.

Headliners reporters were Neylissa Neto da Silva and Adam Bhula, both aged 10. They were assisted by Kamil Boriel, 11.
