Everyone is familiar with reality shows like “I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here”. However, I think that reality shows are a waste of time and should be taken off air permanently.
Reality shows such as Big Brother on Channel 4 and Space Cadets on ITV are not necessary, as they only exist due to lack of effort in making plots for television programmes and insufficient funds for actors.
Consequently, these by-products of commercialist deficiency are a waste of our valuable time that could be spent watching proper television programmes like music, cartoons and news etc.
Despite these facts people continue to spend their time watching other people eat, sleep and talk for hours on end. Such people should seriously review their social prospects.
An additional reason why I think reality shows should be taken off air is because it makes people famous for doing absolutely nothing. For example, all Chantelle did in Big Brother was stay in a house for one month and now she is a celebrity, but why? Reality shows are stupid because any ordinary person can become famous for doing nothing. Nevertheless, this is not the main reason why reality television shows should be scrapped.
Shows of this nature glorify vile behaviour, like Makosi’s behaviour in Big Brother. This misconduct must be classified as lechery, and in any civil community, lechery is not a form of entertainment.
I find it repulsive that people who have strived and worked towards celebrity status (e.g. Thierry Henry) are placed on the same pedestal as untalented strangers such as Chantelle who have been (figuratively) ‘picked out of a hat’ and made proverbial by the imprudent public.
It must be said that major television networks will desperately need to re-evaluate their options because reality television shows are poisoning the minds of the public with their unpleasant conduct and vulgar language.
