This week 14 year old Sonya Gorman from Belfast turns her attentions to the turbulent relationship of Sir Paul McCartney and Heather Mills.
They have been denying the rumours for some time now but over the past few days it has emerged that Paul McCartney and his wife Heather Mills-McCartney are to separate. ‘Was she just a gold digger’? There will also be some people who will think that she is entitled to her fair share of Macca's millions and it looks very much like she is guaranteed at least a cool £50m in any future “quickie” divorce.
Will You Still Bleed Me When I’m Sixty Four?
I think that she doesn’t deserve that sort of reward because he earned almost all of his wealth before he even met her. In fact he made most of it “Yesterday”, when she was still a toddler. When the McCartneys made there joint statement, announcing their separation, they failed to mention the money. Yet, in private, that is the first thing that they will be talking to their lawyers about. It certainly looks like Paul was right all those years ago when he proclaimed “Money Can’t Buy Me Love”.
Heather shouldn’t have any off his money. She has earned a fair few million herself over the years and that should be enough to make sure that she has a good life. Yet some people will still insist that she is entitled to her share.
It seems to be the tradition that when there is a divorce the woman gets half of the wealth even if she didn’t earn any of it. This was introduced because women needed protection and support after the break up of a marriage.
It is a law which was invented when women were much less self sufficient than they are nowadays. Surely that law was introduced for the benefit of those who are far less fortunate than Heather Mills-McCartney. Heather has more than enough money to live on. She is hardly destitute or living on the bread line.
Sauce For The Goose – Sauce For The Gander
If it was a man making the same demands people would be complaining. So why one rule for women and another for men? Indeed in his case he could rightfully lay claim to helping boost her career by getting her back on top with the “Newlyweds”.
It’s a stupid law and a really a stupid world if Heather is able to get half of Paul’s money. Paul McCartney knows this and that’s why he will agree to a £50m quickie divorce. He still has great regard for Heather and a quick settlement might well encourage people to look upon her as less of a gold digger than they already do.
I think that maybe there is another reason too. He knows that if she goes to court it may well be decided that she is entitled to much more than £50,000,000.
It is plain to see that he believed his marriage was going to last the test of time. Why else would he not have secured a pre-nuptial agreement with her? Heather has claimed, in the past, that her husband turned down the offer of a pre-nuptial agreement. If that is indeed the case it is further proof that McCartney believed in the wedding vows that he took in Ireland a mere four years ago.
Paperback Writer
Paul McCartney is worth an estimated £825 million and so £50 million is a mere drop in the ocean to him, but still I don’t think it’s fair because it is a lot of money to give away for the sake of a four year marriage. All he should really be asked to pay for is the upkeep of their little daughter. If Heather wants more money for herself then why doesn’t she get out there and work for it like many other single mothers? For a start she could always write her memoirs and become a best selling “Paperback Writer”.
