If I were in Charge

What would happen if 15-year-old Kauthar Siddique-Parks was in charge?

If I were in charge of the world, poverty would be a thing of the past; no one would ever have to suffer anymore.

War and conflict wouldn’t be allowed, only peace would be promoted. No child would be left hungry or sick and everyone everywhere would have the right to the highest level of education. People would be treated equally and have the same chances and advantages as the person beside them.

Racism would vanish from the face of the earth and violence and bullying would not be permitted. Leaders would listen to each other and do things that actually benefit their countries. The best aid would be given to those in need and all debt would be forgotten.

More people would do things to help the environment like recycling. Amazing things would be discovered like little islands with new animals on them and everything would be done to save all animals at risk.

Miracle medicines would be made to cure the most deadly and feared diseases. Above all it would be made official that everyone should pay each other with a smile, which is the simplest and greatest gift of all!

But I think the world is already changing into a better place. Thanks to the improvements of technology people are travelling further, meeting and even marrying people from around the world.

People are learning new things and life long dreams are becoming a reality. Maybe we aren’t that far away from this ‘perfect’ world…maybe?

This story was produced by Kauthar Siddique-Parks, 15, and published in Children Now.
