Games consoles - the next generation

Over the past 10 years, games consoles have evolved into high quality works of art, with some games costing as much as $25 million to develop. Iconic actors, and high paid, not to mention, skilled developers are hired, just to bring a videogame up to top-notch eminence.

The gaming industry is truly on par with Hollywood films, and now we are entering the next generation of console, with the introduction of Sony’s PS3, Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Nintendo’s Revolution.

My personal favourite, however, is Sony’s Playstation. As a child, I remember all the hype at Christmas time, when I received my first playstation from Santa! Even thinking back though, the console has come a long way since September 29th, 1995, when it was first released.

The latest console packs a powerful punch, with hardware unparalleled with any of its rivals! It’s even backed up by computer graphics giant “Nvidia”, one of many reasons why I’ll be looking forward to using this technology!

However I’ll not be rushing out to the shops just yet to make my purchase, despite its release on November 17th of this year.

The top model is priced at around £400 when due for release, but as of yet, I believe no classic worthwhile games are set to be released for the PS3. I do believe it will be worth the wait however.

Experiences have taught me, consoles such as this will crash in price after Christmas anyway, and by that time, a lot more worthwhile titles will hopefully be on the market.

As an avid gamer, I would imagine these companies will understand the importance of releasing familiar titles in order to really establish a console, however I have faith my trusty old playstation will continue to entertain me for years to come!
