| When my dad left for Jamaica I felt upset, scared and worried. |
My father left for Jamaica about 6 months ago. No, I don't come from a broken home, my mother and father are still happily married with two children. But my dad has gone to Jamaica to work.
He's working because my family are planning on moving to Jamaica permanently, so he has to make a few arrangements and adjustments like organising schools for my sister and me.
When my dad left for Jamaica I felt upset, scared and worried. The first couple of days I cried a lot because it felt weird him not being there. I even thought that I wouldn't be able to make it - like it would take a really long time to feel normal again.
That was six months ago and things have changed a lot since then. I have gotten closer to my mum and now I know that it won't be long until he is back here with us in the UK.
Since my dad's been gone my mum has let me stay up and watch Wrestlemania XXI, and she has had more personal and deep conversations with me. We have become dependent on each other.
It will be really strange when my dad comes home - of course I miss him, but half a year is quite a long time and you learn to be more grown up. But in the end, whenever my dad is away it will feel as though something is missing.
