Global Eye exhibition in Belfast

The Belfast bureau of Children's Express has mounted a multimedia exhibition in an arts' centre in Belfast's city centre. Entitled Global Eye the exhibition is currently running in the Old Museum Arts Centre in College Street North until the 30th of April 2005.

Boy holding a candle.

Global Eye is the culmination of a year long development education project the Belfast bureau has been piloting. It was funded by the Department for International Development and Save the Children.

Through a series of workshops and interviews with people from the developing world members learned at first hand about poverty and inequity. The exhibition explores the Millennium Development Goals and through the concept of interdependency how we are all co-responsible for the world we live in.

There are three elements to the Global Eye exhibition:

  1. a conceptual art exhibition exploring barriers to universal primary education
  2. a photographic exhibition looking at children from ethnic minority communities in and out of school.
  3. a 15 minute documentary examining the life of recent immigrants to NI
