A child’s-eye view of T-Rex

In a corner of the Natural History Museum in South Kensington, we Children's Express journalists looked up into the jaws of a mighty T-rex.

We could see his sharp teeth, with bits of bones stuck in between as if he had just had his lunch and was going to have us for dessert. But would he? Is the T-rex even a predator?

Was the dinosaur a predator or a scavenger? Did he hunt for his own food or eat some other dinosaur's left overs? This is the fundamental question that exhibition, on till May 3 2004, puts to the visitors and it is a question which science doesn't yet know the answer to.

The exhibition is filled with T-rex robots for the children and understandable facts and models for the interested. The animatronics are very life-like and very impressive. The models and fossils are not to be forgotten, as they are a unique part of the exhibition and looked really scary.

Even though the saying goes 'size doesn't matter' in this case it definitely did - we thought the size of the exhibition was quite small and much of it was cramped in; it needed a bigger room.

Also there weren't enough hands on activities. Some of the boards had too much text and it looked quite boring.

Adam, 11, said: "It's quite easy to learn from it," while Alastair said "Both children and parents seemed to enjoy it"

We thought the text was quite boring but the models are life-like enough to make you tremble by looking into their eyes.

Overall it was a jawsome day out at The Natural History Museum, which was both enriching and fun.

As for the T-rex you'll have to make your own mind up. The T-rex exhibit is a go for if you fancy taking a bite out of the day and being amazed by the realistic models and the must know facts.
