The Snowman

Christmas hasn't truly started until you've seen this modern fairy tale live on stage.

We were just amazed as they flew high above the stage.

Children's Express reviewers are walking in the air after seeing a modern classic brought to life on stage at Christmas.

If there's one thing you should see this Christmas, it's this year's production of The Snowman at the Peacock Theatre in Holborn.

It's based on the animation of the same name, and the play stays true to the story which for many of us is just as important on Christmas Day as turkey and crackers. But if you know the story well, don't let that put you off. Seeing it on stage gave the classic cartoon a whole new life.

We liked the dancing, especially the penguins who really made us laugh all the way through the second half.

Although he wasn't in the original cartoon, we also liked the baddie Jack Frost, who crept around the stage and tried to steal Santa's presents.

But our favourite scene in the whole play was where the Snowman flies off with his new friend, the little boy, to his home at the North Pole. At first we were scared because we were worried that their strings would break, but then we were just amazed as they flew high above the stage.

We reckon anyone, aged 1-100+, will love The Snowman. This is a marvellous story, and it's no wonder it's been a favourite for so many years. We left the theatre feeling that Christmas had started.
