This week Children's Express reporters find out how young people feel about their mothers.
| I think my ma is funny but she has upset me loads of times by not giving me want I want. |
Amy Wood, 18, Cowgate
I would describe my mam as big and cuddly with a bubbly personality who is very loving, generous and would do anything for me. My mam is a very nice person who would do anything for anyone. If someone were short of money she would lend it to them straight away. I just like everything about my mam. We always go shopping together into town. I go everywhere with her.
I've left home now but I loved living with my mam because everything is done for you like your washing. All your meals are cooked for you and you get money all the time. You miss all this when you leave home. My mam still tells me off for swearing, answering back and shouting. We always shout at each other but she never upsets me. I think every mam is very special because they brought you into this world and you should respect her and help her out if she needs it.
Josh Tumilty, 9, Walker
I would describe my mam as old. Theres not a lot I like about my mam. I don't really do a lot with her. I would like to go on holiday with my mam to Jamaica. She doesn't make me do any washing up and stuff. I do like living with my mam because I don't have to do anything. No one really tells me off, but if I am its usually for swearing.
Karl Inghal, 10, Walker
I would describe my mam as a nice woman because she gives us treats all the time and lets us play out for as long as I want. There are loads of things I like about my mam like the way she never upsets me. I like doing jigsaws with my mam and also doing my homework. I can't think of anything that I don't like doing with her. I would like to go to Spain with my mam. If I need telling off its my dad sometimes who does it, he tells me off for being silly but my mother never tells me off. Its just for being silly with me brother.
Shiern Daniels, 8, Walker
My mam's very nice. She helps me when I am stuck on words. She looks after us very well and she is very tidy. What I really like about my mam is that she lets me go to my friend's house and she lets me go to Kids Kabin (a local youth club).
My mam sometimes upsets me when I have been naughty. She shouts at me or sends me to bed and grounds me. I enjoy knitting with my mam but I don't always like doing stuff like doing the washing for her. I like living with my mam because she can be funny sometimes. She plays games with me. I get told off for fighting with my brother, its either me mam or dad that tells me off.
Abbey Carruthers, 9, Cowgate
My mam is kind and gentle. I like my mam because she always gives me money. Sometimes my mam has upset me. If she has to tell me off it's because I have been fighting with my little sister or being cheeky.
Amy Soanes, 9, Cowgate
I love her. I think my mam is kind, loving and helpful. I like helping her tidy up. The things we like doing together are going on holiday. I like living with my mam. I think my mam is helpful but she is the one who tells me off. She tells me off for being naughty. I am normally told off for hitting my little brother.
Scott Rainey, 11, Cowgate
I would describe my ma as nice. I think she is funny but she has upset me loads of times by not giving me want I want. We like going shopping together but I don't like waiting for her when she tries clothes on. I like living with my ma because she is funny and laughs all the time. It's my ma that tells me off for things like arguing with her. I am mostly told off for hitting people.
