This week Children's Express reporters ask young people for their views on jewellery.
| Wearing jewellery makes me feel excited. I've got lots. |
Natasha Crowl, 13, Cowgate
I have loads of jewellery, lots of bracelets and necklaces. I normally get jewellery for Christmas and my birthday. I don't like silver I prefer gold. My bracelet is my most expensive piece. I wear jewellery because I like it; it makes me stand out. I have worn jewellery to school but I had it taken off me because you are not allowed to wear it to school. The teacher puts it in an envelope.
Melissa Skinner, 11, Cowgate
My mam spends loads on jewellery for me. She normally buys my jewellery but last Christmas I got a necklace off my dad. Sometimes I get to choose my jewellery. I prefer gold. I wear jewellery because everyone one else does. It makes me feel buzzing. I would wear jewellery to school if I could sneak it on.
Hayley Todd, 9, Cowgate
I have loads of jewellery. I had some for Christmas and for my birthday. I have gold jewellery but sometimes I get silver. I get to choose what kind of jewellery I have but sometimes I get surprises. I don't know how much it costs because my ma buys it for me. It doesn't matter what size, thick or skinny jewellery, it's just good. I don't wear jewellery to school because we are not allowed.
Abbey Carruthers, 9, Cowgate
My mam spends lots on jewellery for me. I've got a canny bit. I don't get it for Christmas that often but I do for my birthday. Sometimes I get jewellery from my family. I have necklaces, gold and silver rings and earrings. I get to choose what jewellery I want. I prefer gold because silver scratches up a bit. I wear jewellery because I like it. It makes me feel good. Sometimes I wear jewellery to school, but not all the time because you can get wrong off the teachers. It's just in case it gets caught on something.
Sonia McAthey, 13, Cowgate
I don't think my mam spends that much on jewellery for me because I hardly wear it. It's normally my aunties, my mam and my dad that buy me it. I own loads of jewellery. Sometimes I get jewellery for Christmas. I own both gold and silver and a pearl necklace. My double-sided cross is my most expensive. I prefer gold. I only wear jewellery for special occasions and weekends. Wearing jewellery makes me feel different. I don't wear it to school because I don't like showing off.
Christie Newby, 11, Cowgate
Wearing jewellery makes me feel excited. I've got lots. I always get to choose the jewellery that I want. I don't know why but I prefer gold. I think silver is for goth like people. I don't like thick jewellery. I don't know why I wear jewellery its just that if I wear some and it was bought for Christmas it reminds me of that day. Wearing jewellery makes me feel excited. I just wear it. I don't wear jewellery to school because we are not allowed.
Emma Dickman, 11, Cowgate
I always get loads of jewellery for Christmas and my birthday. I have earrings, a couple of necklaces and a few rings. It's mostly gold jewellery that I have because it's more in fashion than silver. I wear it because it makes me feel like my friends. We are not allowed to wear jewellery to school because if someone catches their earring on something it could pull it out, also the jewellery could get lost and the schools not responsible for it
Shellie Lockyer, 10, Cowgate
My ma buys my jewellery for me but I get to choose what I want. I got some for Christmas. I like gold because it's fashionable. Sometimes I wear jewellery to school but not all the time because you get wrong from the teachers.
