Answer the question: Should we join the Euro?
| The days of Britain being a great world power are over. It's time to unite with the rest of Europe. |
For the convenience of tourists and for those who travel to Europe a great deal, it would be beneficial to join the Euro. We, as a nation, would be viewed more as 'Europeans' than 'British', which may mean loss of identity. Personally, I wouldn't care either way. It's a good idea for preventing those who go abroad from getting ripped off.

I don't think that joining the euro is such a great idea because the pound is pretty strong in most places. It'll be hard for people, particularly older people and school children, during maths lessons, to get used to the new currency. I suppose having the same currency throughout Europe will at least give the continent more of an image of being bound together.

I think we should join because we could soon end up being the only country in Europe not using the new currency. It's going to be a big part of everyday life. If we're not involved we may miss out. The euro will make life easier for everyone. It'll make relations between European countries much simpler. But I do think it's a good idea to wait a while before we join, as we're doing now, so we'll know what to expect.

It's nice that most of Europe has come together as a continent and share this huge change together. But then again, it's nice to have individuality. I mean, England is known for its pound sterling, France for it's francs and Spain for its pesetas. The plus side of a single currency is that you can tell if you're getting ripped off or not. I think there should be a public vote because it is the public who are going to use it.

It's the question that's been bugging us for the past few years. I think we should join. We traditionally pride ourselves on being different from Europe, but the days of Britain being a great world power are over. It's time to unite with the rest of Europe. If we do this Europe could become a great power to rival the USA.

After watching so much on the news about it the Euro has been on my mind. I find the Euro symbol quite appealing. But it really makes me wonder what kind of changes it could bring about in the coming years. I think it could be a success, but personally I might find having a change of currency confusing.
