Sycophant produces a funky heavy metal sound that rocked Gyro's last summer when they supported Twisted Dogsitter. They opened with 'Whisky in Gyro's' a la 'Whisky in the Jar' to pump the crowd up before getting down to their own blend of funk/heavy metal.
Sycophant, a young band are dedicated to pushing to the limits and making a name for themselves on the local music scene.
Vocals and rhythm guitarist Ryan Adair has faith in the band's future. "You have to make sure that you're actually good."
"Yeah, it sounds stupid but there's no point in kidding yourself," said Simon Clark, lead guitarist. Base player, Michael Park recognises "A lot of getting your gigs, is down to word of mouth and pushing yourself into people's minds, leaving an impression, so your first gig is vitally important."
If you missed Sycophant at Katie Daly's you may catch them later in the year at Lavery's.
If plans that Ryan's working on come off, Sycophant will be supporting Honey for Christ in the near future.
