Jack Petchey gives donation to Headliners

Youth journalism charity Headliners recently received a cheque for £10,000 towards running activities in north and east London from the Jack Petchey Foundation.

Cheque presentation ceremonyThe money has enabled young reporters aged 11-19 from diverse communities in Islington and Hackney to learn and work together using the Headliners learning through journalism programme and produce stories and photographs for publication in local newspapers and broadcast on local television. It was presented at the opening night of a photography exhibition of work by young people from Headliners.

Jack Petchey, 81, is a successful east London businessman. He established the Foundation in 1999 to support projects for young people.

Fiona Wyton, director of Headliners, said “The money given to us by the Jack Petchey Foundation recognises the valuable work we do, especially with young people in Islington and Hackney. We’re really grateful to Jack Petchey for helping us to continue to ensure that young people’s voices are heard and represented in the media.”
