The cross border group have been working on the show for the past eight weeks, meeting once a week in the Verbal Arts Centre in Derry. The hour long show will be broadcast at 7pm this Easter Bank Holiday Monday, and will look at topics such as ASBO's, the recent Battle of the Bands at An Grianan Theatre, as well as entertainment and film news.
Headliners Project Co-ordinator, Martin Keeney, says it has been a great opportunity for young people from both centres to work together. "The young people have been able to develop new skills and have a lot of fun at the same time. Its important young people are given opportunities to have their voice heard on issues that affect them, and radio provides the perfect medium for this to happen."
Letterkenny Youth Development Officer, Frankie McGreevy, says this has been a great project and shows the value of working together with other youth organisations to achieve common goals. "In this case our common goal is getting the voice of young people out there in the local media. Headliners and the Letterkenny Youth Information Centre have been working tgether now for over two years and we hope to continue this relationship in to the future."
Jake Hamilton, 13, from Derry , who was part of the project, believes it has been a fun experience. "Not only am I presenting part of the show, but the whole project was interesting too. We got to learn about how to do interviews, how to use recording equipment, but even more importantly, we got to meet new people from different places."
