Headliners offers a wide range of high quality foundation level, skills based and vocational learning opportunities through the National Open College network (NOCN) Entry level 1 to Level 3. Headliners has eight years experience of running accredited courses, fully trained staff, in house Internal Verifiers and has direct claims status.
Our accredited ‘Introduction to Journalism’ programme engages young people through the use of creative and media tools such as TV, radio/podcasting, photography and print. The young people gain real life insight into the media industry, creating their own products for distribution online and in the local, national press.
We run intensive courses and tasters but usually projects are usually run over a 6-12 week period depending on the frequency and time spent with the young people. All projects are very hands on and experiential. Where possible we support visits to places of employment such as the BBC centre, real life interviewing with special guests and people in the community. Projects such as these create opportunities for young people to work towards accreditation and where possible gain an award.
If a partner wishes to extend the learning for young people we provide off site work experience for group based at our London centre and radio studio. We progress the work on towards consolidating the award or move on to building credit towards the certificate.
Our programme offers a wide range of units we offer a highly flexible service, able to work with partners to create the right learning package for the young people we are working with.
We offer national QCF accreditation in:
In addition we offer our own range of technical OCN units such as:
Core to our programme is supporting every individual to achieve across the board. Whilst our courses have a vocational and media focus, they also strongly support personal development and literacy skills. As part of the course we will create actions plans with the young people to support them in achieving their own personal goals and also support their further progression on to other learning opportunities, volunteering and work experience where possible.
